Great Hockey Names

My buddy and I have been fascinated with NHL players' names. I don't know what it is, maybe because most of them are canadian and let's be honest, canadians have some great names!! Here are some to name a few....

Jonathan TOEWS!
Guillaume Latendresse!
Scottie Upshall ,not to be confused with: Scotty Hartnell!
Kris Letang
Claude Giroux
Kris Versteeg
Dustin Byfuglien (pronounced BUFFLIN!!)
Zach Bogosian
Mike Knuble
Kristian Huselius
Marek Zidlicky
R.J. Umberger
Brad McCrimmon (Red Wings assistant coach)

There are actually many more, wait until next post to hear the rest...

In the meanwhile, Sharks management sent down Jamie McGinn and Derek Joslin back to Worcester today (top minor league affiliate). I'm not sure how I feel about Doug Wilson continuilly moving the young guys back and forth between the AHL and pros. On one hand I know its great for their development, but on the other hand  I'd like to see some of these guys stay and develop at the pro level. It's much more fun to see these guys show what they've got and help the team with some energy shifts. I guess Ryan Vesce (congrats on first nhl goal the other night vs NYI) is staying, but will probably rotate back down to Worcester at some point. To Doug Wilsons credit, McGinn has had some clumsy plays despite great work on the forecheck, so maybe he can work on his puck handling skills down there, we'll have to wait and see.

Sharks face the Rangers monday night at MSG. I will be streaming from work again as it is a 4 pm western time game. Hopefully I won't get yelled at by my manager. If he says something, I'll just respond...

GO SHARKS!

It's Teal Time!

Fellow Sharks Fans and Hockey fans world wide,

It has been a while since my last post, but Jodey Shelley's blog, along with digressionsofanadman.com, have inspired me to transforming my blog into a themed blog. The theme? The San Jose Sharks of course, the team I have followed since 1995, since Arturs Irbe duked it out with Guy Hebert in center ice of the then called "San Jose Arena."

Teal Time's attempt is to provide sharks fans with post game commentary and analysis of the sharks throughout the year. Just as our boys in teal have gone off to a mildly slow start, I may experience some literary rustiness in the next few posts. However, rest assured, I will get off the Schneid soon eough, as color commenantor and Saskatchewan native Drew Remenda would say.

Anyways, Sharks played the New York Islanders tonight in Long Island. As usual, they started off to a slow start in the first period. I was at work (on a Saturday unfortunately) streaming the game on my lap top, so I was constantly minimizing and maximizing my web browser to avoid being caught watching the game at work. Every time I maximized the browser, the Islanders were storming the sharks defense. This was frustrating to me, so I decided to get back to my 20 accounting spreadsheets (I'm a financial accounting auditor for those who don't know me or what I do). 1-0 Isles at that point, goal from young Isle star Kyle Okposo.

The second and third period were a lot better, with Nabby stepping up and continuing his stretch of 3-4 solid games (minus the caps game, courtesy Ovechkin). I was happy to see Ryan Vesce get his first career NHL goal (Nice pass Joe). Seto's goal was amazing, he is extremely skilled and fast. Good to see sharks snap their 2 game losing streak and win one on the road. Monday night's game will be a big one, where the sharks will have to prove themselves and not let Gaborik light the lamp.

On another note, I ordered a white Heatley jersey from nhl.com. Still waiting for it to arrive, but when it does, it's going to be the sweetest thing ever.

Until then, time to hip check outta here.

Thanks for reading!
